B201 | Performing AI queries with Db2 13 for z/OS using SQL Data Insights
Sunday October 26, 2025 9:00am - 1:00pm WIB
See how IBM SQL Data Insights combines unsupervised deep learning with traditional SQL queries, enabling you to run similarity, dissimilarity, clustering, and analogy queries on your Db2 data. Easily uncover hidden relationships across tables and views, quickly gain actionable insights to address business challenges as they arise and confidently make better business decisions.
In this workshop, we examine a food nutrition table containing detailed numerical and categorical information on a wide range of common grocery items from around the world. Using AI-powered SQL queries, you will identify which food products are most similar or dissimilar across brands and countries, helping to generate recommendations. Analogy queries will answer questions such as: “If my customer likes this product from this brand, what product would they like from another brand?” Additional industry use cases will also be explored.
The lab also includes the latest enhancements that allow users to run SQL Data Insights tasks through shell commands and REST APIs. Learn how to use these new interfaces to operate SQL DI tasks such as creating AI objects, enabling AI queries, and retraining object models. Note: Please bring your own laptop.

D7 | Db2 – the database of choice for High Availability in a Hybrid/Multi-Cloud Environment
Tuesday October 28, 2025 11:30am - 12:30pm WIB
It is evident from recent market reports that the Hybrid/Multi-Cloud market size is in billions of dollars and growing. Reliability and High Availability are amongst the factors that are driving this growth. Indeed, there are numerous recent examples of one of the major public clouds going offline for a number of hours. Indeed, this is a concern one of our customers came to us with – can Db2 be used for HA across multiple clouds? The answer was, yes, absolutely! In this presentation, we showcase Db2 as the database of choice in a Hybrid/Multi-Cloud environment to provide high availability using the HADR feature. We show how workloads can very quickly and efficiently be moved between different cloud environments in case the primary cloud environment becomes offline, sharing hints, tips, and gotchas along the way. We will look at primarily two use cases – the first involves the primary being on-premises and standbys being on multiple public clouds (for example, AWS, Azure, GCP). The second use case is an all-cloud environment, with the primary being one of the public clouds and standbys being on other multiple public clouds.

F11 | Desperate Measures - How to Relieve the Db2 Optimizer of its Duties
Wednesday October 29, 2025 11:30am - 12:30pm WIB
Optimal query access plans are essential for good database performance and it is the query optimizer's job to choose the best one. However, sometimes even the best statistics or tricky query tuning will produce the access plan you want. Or your application is effectively down, due to a poorly-performing query, and there isn't time to implement best practices. When these situations arise, Db2 optimization profiles and guidelines can be used to correct the access plan and get your application performing well again - quickly. Optimization profiles can specify various aspects of an access plan, can control automatic query rewriting or can control the optimizer's plan search space. Guidelines can be specified with or without modifying your application. This presentation will show you what options are available and how to use them effectively.

This often adds delays, increases risk, and makes it harder to maintain secure and reliable applications. Db2 takes a different approach. It has long supported in-database machine learning and AI, and it continues to evolve. New features—such as vector search, model inference, and integration with AI frameworks—make Db2 well-suited for building modern enterprise AI systems. In this talk, I’ll walk through the AI capabilities available in Db2 today—both existing and newly added. I’ll show how they help teams build AI applications more efficiently, keep data secure, and reduce complexity across the stack. A special focus will be on how these features enable the development of modern AI agents—applications that combine reasoning, retrieval, and structured data to solve real business problems inside the enterprise.

C17 | Restoring Encrypted Db2 LUW Databases in an OpenShift + AWS Ecosystem
Thursday October 30, 2025 11:30am - 12:30pm WIB
This isn't just another restore tutorial. It's a live-fire tale of encrypted Db2 databases, AWS mounts, and GSK gremlins — all tamed in OpenShift’s wild, wild west. Key elements to weave into the hook (without sounding too dry or overly technical):
* Using GSK commands to manage keystore entries (view, add, delete)
* Pulling encrypted backups from S3 and restoring them to EFS-mounted volumes
* A real-world troubleshooting moment (resolved, with one-liner flavor referencing tech stack)
* Running all of this in a containerized OpenShift environment

F17 | REST API: A New Way to Access Db2
Thursday October 30, 2025 11:30am - 12:30pm WIB
Applications may use Db2 not only via traditional drivers like JDBC or ODBC but also via a REST API. A big advantage of the REST API is that there is no need to install a driver at the client side since most programming languages come already with REST support. This presentation shows how to set up the REST API of Db2 and gives an overview how the REST API of Db2 can be used to build such “driverless” applications. It demonstrated the power of the REST API for Db2 applications with several examples and use cases.

D203 | MaaS - Db2 Monitoring as a Service in AWS, Azure, GC and IBM Cloud
Thursday October 30, 2025 2:00pm - 6:30pm WIB
A cloud native resource without monitoring (or with a very complex monitoring setup) is like driving a car without a dashboard - you wouldn't know if you are speeding or low on fuel! Db2 needs a concise and simplified monitoring solution that gives a bird eye's view on the performance metrics and Db2 diagnostics. We present here a solution that is available in AWS, Azure, Google Cloud and IBM Cloud while running Db2 with a Infrastructure as a Service model.
The speaker will cover her experience of collaboration with all cloud vendors, Db2 development and customers like SAP. The session will share the findings from that reserach and development project and it is based on the cloud native monitoing solutions currently available. The solution consists of a smart combination of Db2 monitoring capabilities, Operating System scheduling and Cloud logging functionality resulting in an out-of-the-box Db2 monitoing solution.
The solution has the following features:
Displays the most important metrics (based on customer data) of a database instance namely, Bufferpool quality, Activities per second, Activity wait time and Logging performance.Information regarding Db2 Diagnostics by providing the count of increasing errors that can be easily extended for a comprehensive diagnostic analysis. Whether or not the database is alive. This solution introduces the Monitoring as a Service infrastructure and ables you to build your own cloud native monitoring solution with a few fingertips.
