D5 | Range Partitioning - Overview, Use cases, Tips and Tricks
Monday October 27, 2025 4:30pm - 5:30pm WIB
Db2 range partitioned tables are used for various purposes. They address performance aspects but also they can be used to overcome Db2 limits like the size of Large Binary Objects (LOBs) within a table. The session will introduce into the concepts and showcase some examples e.g.: how to introduce hash partitioning with ranges; how to introduce range partitioning without data movement and gives a cheat sheet for an emergency and how range partitioned tables can help.

D6 | Db2 Automatic Statistics Deep Dive
Tuesday October 28, 2025 10:20am - 11:20am WIB
Accurate catalog statistics are the lifeblood of the Db2 query optimizer. Db2 has had automatics statistics support since version 8.2 and real-time statistics were introduced in version 9.5. Automatic statistics collection is enabled by default for new databases and is the recommend best practice. So if you are still hesitant to use them, attend this session to gain a deeper understanding of how they work and why you can trust them to simplify your DB administration and improve overall query performance. In addition to providing details on the automatic statistics architecture, this presentation will provide details on ways to monitor and control automatic statistics collection so that it works well for any type of Db2 system.

D7 | Db2 – the database of choice for High Availability in a Hybrid/Multi-Cloud Environment
Tuesday October 28, 2025 11:30am - 12:30pm WIB
It is evident from recent market reports that the Hybrid/Multi-Cloud market size is in billions of dollars and growing. Reliability and High Availability are amongst the factors that are driving this growth. Indeed, there are numerous recent examples of one of the major public clouds going offline for a number of hours. Indeed, this is a concern one of our customers came to us with – can Db2 be used for HA across multiple clouds? The answer was, yes, absolutely! In this presentation, we showcase Db2 as the database of choice in a Hybrid/Multi-Cloud environment to provide high availability using the HADR feature. We show how workloads can very quickly and efficiently be moved between different cloud environments in case the primary cloud environment becomes offline, sharing hints, tips, and gotchas along the way. We will look at primarily two use cases – the first involves the primary being on-premises and standbys being on multiple public clouds (for example, AWS, Azure, GCP). The second use case is an all-cloud environment, with the primary being one of the public clouds and standbys being on other multiple public clouds.

Tuesday October 28, 2025 2:00pm - 3:00pm WIB
Db2 continues its foray into the world of generative AI with the ability to store and work with vector data. This enables use cases, such as retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), a popular AI framework that combines information retrieval with large language models (LLMs). In this session you’ll learn about vector databases, LLMs, embeddings, RAG, semantic search, and how Db2 brings these concepts to data in your database.

D10 | Working with EXPLAIN - Alternatives to Command line and Visual Explain
Wednesday October 29, 2025 10:20am - 11:20am WIB
Being a Db2 consultant for more than 25 years I often face the challenge that I had to use EXPLAIN as part of a Performance analysis.
Now we have Tools like Visual Explain in IBM Data Studio and Data Management Console (DMC) as well as db2exfmt and db2caem as command line tools - but what do I do when I have no IBM Data Studio or DMC around and no access to a Db2 command line?
In my presentation I will show how to do EXPLAIN on a SQL statement and analyze the SQL Access Plan from within almost any SQL Frontend tool (DBeaver, Squirrel, DBVisualizer and others)
I will show that for

"normal" EXPLAIN
EXPLAIN from a Section in Package Cache or Sections in Activity Event Monitor tables
EXPLAIN with Section Actuals
and more ...

D13 | Db2 for Agentic AI: New Capabilities, Frameworks, and Real-World Use Cases
Wednesday October 29, 2025 4:30pm - 5:30pm WIB
Many enterprise AI projects still rely on moving data out of databases into separate systems for training and inference. This often adds delays, increases risk, and makes it harder to maintain secure and reliable applications. Db2 takes a different approach. It has long supported in-database machine learning and AI, and it continues to evolve. New features—such as vector search, model inference, and integration with AI frameworks—make Db2 well-suited for building modern enterprise AI systems. In this talk, I’ll walk through the AI capabilities available in Db2 today—both existing and newly added. I’ll show how they help teams build AI applications more efficiently, keep data secure, and reduce complexity across the stack. A special focus will be on how these features enable the development of modern AI agents—applications that combine reasoning, retrieval, and structured data to solve real business problems inside the enterprise.

D17 | Advanced Performance Diagnostics for SQL
Thursday October 30, 2025 11:30am - 12:30pm WIB
The Db2 family of products including Db2, Db2 Warehouse, and BigSQL provide a number of important features for diagnosing and solving your SQL problems. Through a series of practical examples, this session will bring you up speed on the latest capabilities available for SQL diagnostics and show you how you can leverage them to solve query problems in your own environment. You will learn how to identify your most expensive SQL statements using the package cache table functions, and how to use Db2's "time spent" metrics to analyze where your problem queries are spending their time. You will also learn some new tips for monitoring sort memory metrics and query memory consumption in order to tune your analytic workloads. Finally you will learn how to use the runtime explain capabilities in conjunction with the activity event monitor to capture actual query plan cardinalities as well the per object metrics.
