E6 | Automating and operationalizing data-driven AI with Db2 SQL Data Insights - new APIs for full control
Tuesday October 28, 2025 10:20am - 11:20am WIB
Db2 for z/OS 13 introduced SQL Data Insights which combines deep learning in artificial intelligence (AI) with advanced IBM Z technologies -- to infuse the Db2 engine with SQL-based semantic queries on user tables and views. The term of large database models (LDMs) in analogy to large language models (LLMs) was introduced to explain how in-database AI can reveal relationships and insights in enterprise data which were previously undiscoverable with SQL. During the past 2 IDUG conferences both the basic principles as well as real business use cases were presented.
The first SQL Data Insights deliveries obviously focussed on outcome rather than on operationalization and automation. 2025 updates closed the gap to manage and administer SQL Data Insights and to deploy models in an automatable, repeatable, and controlled way via APIs. This session explains and demonstrates how these new SQL Data Insights APIs can boost the efficiency when managing and deploying SQL Data Insights models in Db2, from development to production.

E8 | Deep Dive into SQL Data Insights
Tuesday October 28, 2025 2:00pm - 3:00pm WIB
This session addresses a timely and relevant topic in data management and AI: SQL Data Insights (SDI), a new feature in Db2 for z/OS V13, which enables organizations to extract value from their data without requiring extensive data science skills. Building on last year's introductory session, this presentation responds to attendee inquiries about finding use cases, securing management buy-in, resource needs, and model tuning. As most installations are now on V13, this session will equip participants with practical strategies to effectively leverage SDI, driving greater value from their Db2 data. From a technical perspective, we will discuss how data preparation can enhance the accuracy of an SDI model, and from a business perspective, we will assess models based on business metrics such as profit and savings.

D9 | Monitoring the new multi-tier storage architecture when using Native Cloud Object Storage
Tuesday October 28, 2025 4:30pm - 5:30pm WIB
Db2 v11.5.9 introduced a new Native Cloud Object Storage (NCOS) feature for Db2 Warehouse to decouple compute and storage, and improve scalability, reliability, and performance. This feature introduces a new multi-tier storage hierarchy with a local cache to compensate for the difference I/O characteristics of Cloud Object Storage. For this reason, the feature also introduced new monitoring elements that allow the users to see the physical input/output (I/O) activity in each layer. In this talk, we will dive into the new multi-tier storage architecture, and the new monitoring metrics introduced to discover what they cover, how they work, and how they can be used to get useful feedback for your running applications. We'll go through example use cases. Lastly, we’ll explore the enhancements introduced in the latest Db2 V12.1 release.

Wednesday October 29, 2025 4:30pm - 5:30pm WIB
There are many tools to gather information and many ways to monitor things as they happen in Db2.
What works best?
This presentation will look at what works best in what scenarios, which tools are deprecated, and which are still being improved. What things should we be looking at? What should we be running to gather historical data, and what tools should we have near the top of our toolbox for emergencies? Since no one tool is best in all scenarios, we will try to present use cases that demonstrate when to reach for which tool.
