ABS is the one of the core insurance applications used in Allianz insurance entities worldwide running on Db2 on Linux. Because of Allianz's strategy to migrate all systems to cloud where possible, it had to be investigated how to move ABS to the cloud. A First step was to use a lift and shift approach, where an ABS backend was created as an EC2 instance. But the target is to have a Db2 service as native cloud service available that meets the customer specific requirements specially in relation to ABS because currently available SaaS services failed on this. This presentation describes how various challenges have to be addressed to achieve this.

Being a Db2 consultant for more than 25 years I often face the challenge that I had to use EXPLAIN as part of a Performance analysis.
Now we have Tools like Visual Explain in IBM Data Studio and Data Management Console (DMC) as well as db2exfmt and db2caem as command line tools - but what do I do when I have no IBM Data Studio or DMC around and no access to a Db2 command line?
In my presentation I will show how to do EXPLAIN on a SQL statement and analyze the SQL Access Plan from within almost any SQL Frontend tool (DBeaver, Squirrel, DBVisualizer and others)

Many enterprise AI projects still rely on moving data out of databases into separate systems for training and inference. This often adds delays, increases risk, and makes it harder to maintain secure and reliable applications. Db2 takes a different approach. It has long supported in-database machine learning and AI, and it continues to evolve. New features—such as vector search, model inference, and integration with AI frameworks—make Db2 well-suited for building modern enterprise AI systems. In this talk, I’ll walk through the AI capabilities available in Db2 today—both existing and newly added. I’ll show how they help teams build AI applications more efficiently, keep data secure, and reduce complexity across the stack. A special focus will be on how these features enable the development of modern AI agents—applications that combine reasoning, retrieval, and structured data to solve real business problems inside the enterprise.

Since no one tool is best in all scenarios, we will try to present use cases that demonstrate when to reach for which tool.

Indexes in Db2 cannot only index simple relational columns to speed up scans and joins, but it is also possible to index more complicated data like JSON or XML documents or spatial data. Indexes can also be built on expressions. This presentation not only looks at these more unsual indexes and how they can be used to speed up queries, but also investigates index variations like Multi-Dimentional Clustering indexes and index processing techniques like index anding and index oring.

A lot of people use Data and Tables in Db2 z/OS but don't know about Tablespaces and Utilities. Wouldn't it be nice to reorg or runstats a table via select or by calling a Rest-Service provided by Db2 itself, at least in test and development environments?
We will create a stored procedure as a wrapper for DSNUTILU. Because SPUFI and DSNTEP4 do not support CALL-Statements, we will include that procedure in a function which we can use in Select, so SELECT * FROM TABLE(REORG_TABLE('schema', 'tablename')) becomes valid.While Utilities use Tablespaces, we'll provide a new Api to use Tables instead.
We will also create a Db2-REST-Service which calls our Wrapper. Now almost anybody from all platforms can reorg a table in Db2 - using Ansible or even Excel if we want to.
Reorg is only an example, other Utilities are provided as well.
In fact we'll create a bunch of Procedures to Reorg Tablespace, Reorg Table and save Utility's Sysprint.
