C15 | A Db2 governance solution with a modern twist
Thursday October 30, 2025 9:00am - 10:00am WIB
A story of a solution, that collects information of the hosts our Db2 servers run on, the instances, databases etc using an Ansible Automation Platform, presents the information using a Node.js application and provides it to other consumers for all sorts of compliance/capacity/cost management reports that are always up to date. It is also an experiment of new features like using a JSON Web token for database connection.

D16 | BACKUP/RESTORE performance insights.
Thursday October 30, 2025 10:20am - 11:20am WIB
The presentation goes through a real case of backup/restore performance improvement challenge for multi-terabyte DB (20+Tb) and offers a general approach of how to analyse ongoing backup/restore processes and how to affect them to reduce overall backup/restore time.
Presentation plan:
1. Introduction into a BACKUP/RESTORE task. BACKUP/RESTORE parameters affecting performance. Types of BACKUP/RESTORE parallelization. 2. Pre-requisites.3. Barstats statistics understanding.4. Barstats deltas.5. What we can see from barstats deltas. Backup/restore behavior. Work distribution between agents.(for both Buffer Manipulators and Media Controllers). Idle agents.6. Differences between backup agents behavior for BACKUP to specified device(s)/target folder(s) and for BACKUP using VENDOR library.7. Balancing parallelisation parameters to get the best backup/restore time.8. Parallel backup/restore between hosts. Named pipes magic.

E16 | Native cloud object storage in Db2 Warehouse: AWS or Azure ?
Thursday October 30, 2025 10:20am - 11:20am WIB
The The availability of low cost with effectively unlimited capacity cloud object storage has given rise to modern cloud architectures that exploit this independently scalable storage in combination with compute servers with ephemeral local NVMe caches. Join the development team behind the release of native object storage support in Db2 Warehouse as they share their experience with the new storage layer in both AWS and Azure. Explore the design of this new component as the developers explain how it enables a multi-tier storage architecture for the data warehouse, unearthing the potential of contemporary, low cost, scalable object storage to reshape the traditional database management system. Come to learn about the differences with Cloud Object Storage between AWS and Azure.

C17 | Restoring Encrypted Db2 LUW Databases in an OpenShift + AWS Ecosystem
Thursday October 30, 2025 11:30am - 12:30pm WIB
This isn't just another restore tutorial. It's a live-fire tale of encrypted Db2 databases, AWS mounts, and GSK gremlins — all tamed in OpenShift’s wild, wild west. Key elements to weave into the hook (without sounding too dry or overly technical):
* Using GSK commands to manage keystore entries (view, add, delete)
* Pulling encrypted backups from S3 and restoring them to EFS-mounted volumes
* A real-world troubleshooting moment (resolved, with one-liner flavor referencing tech stack)
* Running all of this in a containerized OpenShift environment

D17 | Advanced Performance Diagnostics for SQL
Thursday October 30, 2025 11:30am - 12:30pm WIB
The Db2 family of products including Db2, Db2 Warehouse, and BigSQL provide a number of important features for diagnosing and solving your SQL problems. Through a series of practical examples, this session will bring you up speed on the latest capabilities available for SQL diagnostics and show you how you can leverage them to solve query problems in your own environment. You will learn how to identify your most expensive SQL statements using the package cache table functions, and how to use Db2's "time spent" metrics to analyze where your problem queries are spending their time. You will also learn some new tips for monitoring sort memory metrics and query memory consumption in order to tune your analytic workloads. Finally you will learn how to use the runtime explain capabilities in conjunction with the activity event monitor to capture actual query plan cardinalities as well the per object metrics.

F17 | REST API: A New Way to Access Db2
Thursday October 30, 2025 11:30am - 12:30pm WIB
Applications may use Db2 not only via traditional drivers like JDBC or ODBC but also via a REST API. A big advantage of the REST API is that there is no need to install a driver at the client side since most programming languages come already with REST support. This presentation shows how to set up the REST API of Db2 and gives an overview how the REST API of Db2 can be used to build such “driverless” applications. It demonstrated the power of the REST API for Db2 applications with several examples and use cases.

B203 | Amazon RDS for Db2 Workshop
Thursday October 30, 2025 2:00pm - 6:30pm WIB
This workshop will give you the education and information you need to use existing and new features of Amazon RDS for Db2. Some of the topics covered during this workshop will include provisioning, scaling, backup, monitoring, migration and beyond. Each module will be introduced and presented and then participants will be provided an environment they can use and go through a series of instructor led exercises to practice what they have learned and explore. This will be a joint workship between the IBM and AWS RDS teams.

D203 | MaaS - Db2 Monitoring as a Service in AWS, Azure, GC and IBM Cloud
Thursday October 30, 2025 2:00pm - 6:30pm WIB
A cloud native resource without monitoring (or with a very complex monitoring setup) is like driving a car without a dashboard - you wouldn't know if you are speeding or low on fuel! Db2 needs a concise and simplified monitoring solution that gives a bird eye's view on the performance metrics and Db2 diagnostics. We present here a solution that is available in AWS, Azure, Google Cloud and IBM Cloud while running Db2 with a Infrastructure as a Service model.
The speaker will cover her experience of collaboration with all cloud vendors, Db2 development and customers like SAP. The session will share the findings from that reserach and development project and it is based on the cloud native monitoing solutions currently available. The solution consists of a smart combination of Db2 monitoring capabilities, Operating System scheduling and Cloud logging functionality resulting in an out-of-the-box Db2 monitoing solution.
The solution has the following features:
Displays the most important metrics (based on customer data) of a database instance namely, Bufferpool quality, Activities per second, Activity wait time and Logging performance.Information regarding Db2 Diagnostics by providing the count of increasing errors that can be easily extended for a comprehensive diagnostic analysis. Whether or not the database is alive. This solution introduces the Monitoring as a Service infrastructure and ables you to build your own cloud native monitoring solution with a few fingertips.
